Brown Eyed Girls‘ Narsha is making her debut as an actress.

Narsha will be appearing in the currently running popular MBC drama “Lights and Shadows.”

A member of the drama production crew revealed on January 30th, “Narsha will be appearing in the drama. Her exact role has not yet been determined, but we are currently in the middle of deciding between a variety of characters.“

There’s a large possibility that Narsha’s character will either be a rookie singer or an aspiring singer. On the other hand, she could also be a prominent figure who used to be popular during the 70′s and 80′s.

Previous guest stars on “Lights and Shadows” also include Big Bang‘s Seungri, who played the role of an aspiring singer, and actor Park Joon Gyu, who appeared as a sailor. The special guest appearances have delighted the viewers.

The crew member also mentioned, “We have not yet determined whether or not she will make a one-time special appearance or if she will be a recurring guest star on several episodes.” Thus, it appears that it is possible that Narsha could appear more than once on the drama.

With her appearance on ‘Lights and Shadows,’ she will be trying her hand in acting. We hope that you will be able to see a new side to Narsha,  one that is different from her performing on stage.”

JYJ Documentary Screening Cancelled

The theater screening of JYJ‘s documentary movie on the stars’ daily lives has suddenly been cancelled.

JYJ’s agency, C-JeS Entertainment, posted on January 30th on their official homepage, “We are announcing that the movie theater screening of JYJ’s documentary has unfortunately been cancelled. We would like to deeply apologize to all of the fans for cancelling the promised screening.“

On January 19th, C-JeS had originally announced, “JYJ’s daily life documentary, which was originally intended to be released last Winter, will be screened in theaters. We have prepared ‘The Day,’ the complete JYJ story, as a Valentine’s Day service to our fans. It will be shown in 20 CGV Theaters across the nation on January 29th.”

Many had been interested in the screening of “The Day,” due to the fact that it promised to show the JYJ members’ true thoughts and lives as they struggled with being restricted from TV appearances.

Regarding this, JYJ’s agency had previously commented, “We are very excited and happy to be able to show our fans the down-to-earth and easy-going lives of JYJ on the big screen at theaters. The documentary shows JYJ just as they are and the story is filled with honesty. We hope that it will become a great memory for fans on Valentine’s Day.”

Unfortunately, C-JeS revealed that CGV Theaters had suddenly cancelled the screening. C-JeS stated, “We started discussing business with CGV last December and had originally received verbal confirmation. Afterwards, we had our second meeting on January 16th and on the 19th, both parties had come to an agreement. It was only after we drafted the contract that we posted the news about the screening. We signed the contract on January 20th. However, on the 20th, we received a phone call from CGV and was told that the project was not approved by the final decision-maker. Thus, we were told that we had to start the contract process from the beginning again.”

C-JeS added, “We were told that CGV’s new manager has been reviewing all of the company’s current procedures. They have said that the screening of “The Day” has not followed the standard procedure so it will be difficult to show the movie. They have not said that it is absolutely impossible to screen the movie, but have just let us know that it is difficult at the time.“

C-JeS concluded, “CGV’s cancellation of the contract appears to be unfair, and we will be bringing up this case with both the Fair Trade Commission and the Ombudsman of Korea to obtain fair rights for JYJ.“

SNSD Featured on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums & World Albums Charts

Popular girl group SNSD (Girls’ Generation) has made it onto the U.S. Billboard charts.

On January 17th, SNSD’s special album that included their hit song, “The Boys,” went on sale in the United States, Canada, France, England, and other American and European countries.

The album contains both Korean and English versions, as well as remixed versions, of their song “The Boys” and other songs from their 3rd album. SNSD’s recently released maxi single in the States is currently at 122nd place on the iTunes market. The album made its way to 22nd place on the week of February 4th’s Heatseekers Albums chart.

The Heatseekers Albums chart is  a special chart on Billboard for new artists who have never entered into the top 50 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The rankings are determined by radio play, sales data, and online streaming data. SNSD’s appearance on the chart shows their potential for entering as rookie artists in the American music market.

Additionally, SNSD’s “The Boys” has made its way onto 2nd place on the World Albums chart. The girls managed this impressive feat despite the fact that they have not even officially begun to promote themselves globally.

Though SNSD’s album is not yet on Billboard’s main chart, the “Billboard 200,” the fact that they made it this far without their official promotions is laudable enough. With their upcoming appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman” on January 30th (read about it here), it’s only expected that their popularity in the States will rise.

With the release of SNSD’s latest album, they are officially launching themselves into the U.S. and European markets. Many have been interested to see how well their beloved girl group will do abroad. With their recent accomplishments on the Billboard charts, it appears as if the girls are definitely on the right track to success.

Rumors of g.o.d’s Return After 7 Years

With all the upcoming debuts and comebacks, 2012 has already promised to be an exciting year in K-Pop. Not only are the current idol groups returning to the scene, but many rumors have been circulating about the beloved idol groups of the 90′s reuniting again this year. The latest to join that list? None other than the once-popular 5-member group g.o.d.

According to an insider, “Since the end of last year, the members’ respective agencies have been discussing methods to release a new g.o.d. album and to hold a concert.“

g.o.d’s final album, “Into the Sky” was released in 2005. Since then, the members had all moved on to building their individual careers. It appears that g.o.d is now ready to reunite after taking a 7-year long break. With rumors of both H.O.T (read about it here) and g.o.d making a comeback this year, fans can barely contain their excitement.

The insider revealed, “The process is a little difficult since the members are all currently signed with different agencies. However, the members Kim Tae Woo, Danny Ahn, Son Ho Young, and Park Joon Hyung definitely want to reunite as g.o.d. Representatives from Kim Tae Woo’s and Danny Ahn’s agencies have been meeting with each other to discuss official plans for the album release.” Unfortunately, it seems that the probability is low for former member Yoon Gye Sang, who left the group in 2004, to participate in the reunion.

The insider continued, “After releasing the new album, the group will most likely focus more on concerts to meet with their fans rather than TV appearances. g.o.d was the first idol group to hold 100 performances at small theaters. They will be holding a concert for all their fans who have been eagerly waiting for their return.“

g.o.d debuted in 1999 under JYP Entertainment and had many hit songs over the years including “Lies,” “An Ordinary Day,” and “Road.” They have even sold well over 1 million copies of their most popular albums. In 2004,  member Yoon Gye Sang left the group. The remaining 4 members released their final 7th album in 2005 before the group officially broke up. Since then, Kim Tae Woo has completed his military service and established himself as a solo singer. Son Ho Young has expanded his horizons as he dabbled in singing, emceeing, and acting. Both Park Joon Hyung and Danny Ahn have gone down new career paths as actors. Last December, all 5 g.o.d members gathered together for the first time in 8 years for Kim Tae Woo’s wedding (read about it here).

Earlier this week, the new boy band released their debut single, “Warrior,” along with the MV for the track. Following up the release of their single, B.A.P made their debut performance on the Music Bank stage last night, and they performed two songs earlier today, “Burn It Up” and “Warrior.”

“SNSD & Dangerous Boys” Successful Guerrilla Concert

The Dangerous Boys from JTBC‘s “SNSD and Dangerous Boys” have successfully completed a guerrilla concert.

With the upcoming February 5th Street Jam Dance Competition ahead of them, the Dangerous Boys put together a surprise guerrilla performance at 5 PM on January 27th at the Seolleung Station Cultural Stage.

Swarms of people began to crowd the Seolleung Station Cultural Stage hours before the performance, reconfirming the public’s great interest in the boys. In fact, at one point the mob grew so large that it interfered with filming of the performance, which ended up being delayed due to this problem.

Fear and nervousness was apparent in the boys’ faces as they climbed on stage for their very first public appearance. Fortunately, their skills did not disappoint, and they received much applause from the crowd. It’s been reported that the boys had been practicing their choreography for 6 hours a day in preparation for the Street Jam Dance Competition.

Meanwhile, fans were curious to see only 4 of the 5 members perform that day, as member Hwang Yong Hyun was missing.

A member of the production crew commented, “Originally, all 5 members were going to hit the stage, but unfortunately Hwang Yong Hyun had some personal affairs to deal with and could not make it.” He added, “A lot of people are curious about it, but all I can say is to watch the show when it airs this week.”

Fans’ curiosities should be satisfied when they watch the show, which will be aired on January 29th at 7:30 PM.
