SNSD Featured on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums & World Albums Charts

Popular girl group SNSD (Girls’ Generation) has made it onto the U.S. Billboard charts.

On January 17th, SNSD’s special album that included their hit song, “The Boys,” went on sale in the United States, Canada, France, England, and other American and European countries.

The album contains both Korean and English versions, as well as remixed versions, of their song “The Boys” and other songs from their 3rd album. SNSD’s recently released maxi single in the States is currently at 122nd place on the iTunes market. The album made its way to 22nd place on the week of February 4th’s Heatseekers Albums chart.

The Heatseekers Albums chart is  a special chart on Billboard for new artists who have never entered into the top 50 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The rankings are determined by radio play, sales data, and online streaming data. SNSD’s appearance on the chart shows their potential for entering as rookie artists in the American music market.

Additionally, SNSD’s “The Boys” has made its way onto 2nd place on the World Albums chart. The girls managed this impressive feat despite the fact that they have not even officially begun to promote themselves globally.

Though SNSD’s album is not yet on Billboard’s main chart, the “Billboard 200,” the fact that they made it this far without their official promotions is laudable enough. With their upcoming appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman” on January 30th (read about it here), it’s only expected that their popularity in the States will rise.

With the release of SNSD’s latest album, they are officially launching themselves into the U.S. and European markets. Many have been interested to see how well their beloved girl group will do abroad. With their recent accomplishments on the Billboard charts, it appears as if the girls are definitely on the right track to success.
