A Chinese version of MBC‘s hit show “We Got Married” is currently under production and is set to be aired in February. The first pilot episode will be split into two parts and continuation of the project will be determined based on viewers’ reponses.
T-ARA member Hyomin and Super Junior member Kyuhyun are already in the middle of filming for the show. Hyomin has been paired up with Chinese idol group BoBo member Fu Xinbo, while Kyuhyun will be a couple with Chinese actress Lou Yi Xiao.
There will be one more couple composed of a well-known Chinese actor and actress, making a total of 3 couples to be featured on the show. A representative from MBC disclosed, “This project will be aired simultaneously on MBC and on Chinese national station SMG. After evaluating to response to the pilot program, we will proceed with official talks regarding the format and details of exporting the show.”
The Chinese version of “We Got Married” is currently using the same format of the Korean version of the show. Just as the Korean version, the couples cooperate as if they are married, and they comment on their new married life. There will be a total of 4 MCs hosting the show at the same time, including one of China’s top female MCs.
This endeavor will be unique in that it is a variety show filmed in Korea, but will be aired overseas. Additionally, the show will be breaking down cultural barriers as it brings together both Hallyu stars and Chinese celebrities.
The pilot episode will be aired on February 11th and 12.
